Beyond the rating.
Into real proficiency.

Getting a type rating is the beginning. For most Citation owners and operators, the real work starts after the checkride — building the hours, the judgment, and the instincts that make a jet pilot genuinely capable, not just technically current.

Citation Mentor Training is a structured program designed for exactly that phase. Whether you're working toward insurance minimums, tackling complex airspace for the first time, or just want to build the kind of proficiency that sticks — the Mentor Modules give you a clear, disciplined path forward.

Each module is focused, structured, and led by Arne personally. Topics are chosen because they represent the areas where real accidents happen, where confidence gaps cause real problems, and where proper instruction makes a lasting difference.

Who Mentor Training is for
New Citation owners working toward insurance minimums. Pilots returning to flying after a break. Operators who've been legal but not truly comfortable. Anyone who wants to fly their jet the way it was designed to be flown — with precision, awareness, and confidence in any conditions.

Mentor Modules — available now
Module 01
Instrument Proficiency
From mystery to mastery
IFR in a jet is a different world. This module takes you from uncertainty to command — complex airspace, real-world IMC approaches, and the automation discipline that keeps you ahead of the aircraft when the ceiling drops.
Covers
  • Complex airspace operations
  • Real IMC approaches
  • Automation management in IMC
  • Partial panel and backup procedures
Standalone module
Module 02
Mountainous Terrain Operations
Runway analysis · obstacle awareness
Mountain airports demand specific skills that most jet pilots never formally develop. This module covers performance planning, runway analysis, obstacle awareness, and the judgment calls that separate safe mountain flying from dangerous guesswork.
Covers
  • Runway analysis and takeoff/landing performance
  • Obstacle departure procedures
  • Density altitude and terrain awareness
  • Mountain airport-specific techniques
Standalone module
Module 03
Back to the Roots
Crosswind landings · basic flying principles
Automation can erode the fundamentals. This module is a disciplined reset — crosswind landings, manual flying skills, energy management, and the core techniques that experienced pilots know but rarely practice deliberately.
Covers
  • Crosswind landing technique in jets
  • Manual flight without automation
  • Energy management and stabilized approaches
  • Go-around discipline and decision-making
Standalone module
Module 05
Avionics Training
Garmin · Collins · Honeywell · Universal
Master the glass cockpit in your specific aircraft. From Garmin G1000/G3000/G5000 to Collins Pro Line, Honeywell Primus, and Universal FMS — structured avionics training that turns automation from a source of uncertainty into a genuine capability multiplier.
Covers
  • FMS programming and flight plan management
  • Automation philosophy and mode awareness
  • Avionics-specific emergency procedures
  • Tailored to your aircraft's specific suite
Standalone module
Module 06
Type Difference Training
Transitioning between Citation variants
Already rated in one Citation but stepping into a different variant? Type Difference Training covers the systems, performance, and procedural differences specific to your transition — without repeating ground you've already covered.
Covers
  • Systems differences between Citation variants
  • Performance and handling differences
  • Checklist and procedure changes
  • Avionics differences where applicable
Standalone module
Module 07 UPSELL
Single-Pilot SOP Development
Build your personal operating standards
Don't fly someone else's SOP. This module builds a complete, personalized Standard Operating Procedure tailored to your aircraft variant, avionics suite, and operation — so every flight starts with a documented, repeatable standard.
Delivers
  • Custom pre-flight through shutdown flows
  • Normal, abnormal & emergency checklists
  • Personal minimums and decision framework
  • Tailored to your aircraft and avionics

Trained by the military.
Focused on you.

Arne Haeussler spent his career flying and instructing in some of the most demanding environments on earth. As a former military jet instructor, he brings a standards-driven approach to every training program — the kind of structure that turns nervous first-time jet pilots into confident, capable commanders.

At Citation Academy, you won't be handed off to a line instructor you've never met. Arne personally flies every course, adapting the training to where you are and where you need to be. Whether you're a newly minted ATP transitioning to your first Citation, or an experienced owner building proficiency — the training is built around your goals.

Beyond the cockpit, Arne serves as a Brand Ambassador and Demo Pilot for ScaleWings SW-51 Mustang and operates across the Phoenix Metro — P19 Stellar Airpark, 5AZ3 Pegasus Airpark, KSDL Scottsdale, KPHX Phoenix, and KGEU Glendale — all ideal environments for practical jet training.

The difference is in
the standards.

🎖️
Military precision
Training methodology built on military standards — structured briefings, disciplined debriefs, and no shortcuts. The same approach that produces combat-ready aviators, applied to civilian jet operations.
👤
One instructor, your program
You work directly with Arne from intro call to checkride debrief. No hand-offs, no strangers. Your training adapts to your background, your aircraft, and your operation.
Checkride-ready, not just legal
The goal isn't to meet the minimums — it's to walk into your checkride with the systems knowledge, procedures mastery, and confidence to perform. Every lesson builds toward that standard.
📍
Arizona-based flexibility
Operating across the Phoenix Metro — P19 Stellar Airpark, 5AZ3 Pegasus Airpark, KSDL Scottsdale, KPHX Phoenix, and KGEU Glendale — uncongested airspace, year-round flying weather, and logistics that work around your schedule.
🔧
Practical systems knowledge
Forget memorizing limitations for a written test. You'll understand why the systems work the way they do, what to do when they don't, and how to stay ahead of the aircraft at all times.
🤝
Mentorship beyond the rating
The type rating is the beginning. For new Citation owners and operators, Citation Academy offers ongoing mentoring to build the real-world experience that makes the rating meaningful.

From first contact
to type rated.

01
Initial Consultation
We talk through your background, the aircraft you're flying or buying, and what you want to accomplish. No sales pitch — just an honest assessment of what training makes sense.
02
Customized Plan
Based on your hours, experience, and goals, we build a training program. Ground school, simulator sessions, and aircraft time are structured to match your pace.
03
Training & Prep
Rigorous, structured, and focused. Systems knowledge, procedures, emergency handling — trained to standards, debriefed every session. No wasted flight time.
04
Checkride & Beyond
We coordinate with the DPE, prep you for exactly what to expect, and walk in confident. After your rating, mentoring continues as long as you need it.
